Textron: ATAC Receives 9th FAA William “Bill” O’Brien Diamond Award of Excellence

Newport News, VA – June 7, 2022 – Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC), part of the Textron Systems segment of Textron Inc (NYSE:TXT), today announced that it has received the 2021 Federal Aviation Award Administration (FAA) William “Bill” O’Brien Diamond Award of Excellence. The award recognizes exemplary dedication to advancing aviation safety and a commitment to ongoing training within the company.

“This award is a testament to our culture of professionalism and the caliber of ATAC’s maintenance team,” said Scott Stacy, Senior Vice President and General Manager. “It is an immense privilege to lead a company recognized for the excellence of its technicians and managers in aeronautical maintenance.” This award marks the ninth consecutive year that ATAC has been the recipient of the FAA’s William “Bill” O’Brien Diamond Achievement Award.

Fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence is second nature to ATAC’s seasoned body of maintenance professionals. ATAC’s maintenance team includes highly decorated U.S. military veterans and civil aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs).

Working together, the ATAC team enables a robust tempo of flight operations at eight permanent locations and multiple deployment sites in the continental United States, Hawaii and the Western Pacific. ATAC’s entire aircraft maintenance organization consistently achieves 100% compliance with AMT initial and recurring training requirements – earning rewards for every team member individual bronze, silver or gold. This level of dedication to safety and continuous learning demonstrates the team’s commitment to warfighter readiness, making ATAC the recognized leader in the tactical aviation industry.

“The ATAC team is honored to receive this award from the FAA,” said Greg Guilfoyle, vice president of maintenance and logistics. “It’s a team effort. Every ATAC supervisor and technician plays a key role in the success of flight operations. All ATAC personnel are committed to excellence while operating from a diverse set of operating sites in support of the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force.”

ATAC is the world leader in airborne tactical training, having pioneered what are today contractual standards in the air service industry. ATAC operates a fleet of over 90 aircraft, logging over 70,000 flight hours, with a total of 20 years of operating experience. ATAC has provided a wide range of contracted air support capabilities to the United States Department of Defense in locations around the world, including the continental United States, Hawaii, and the Western Pacific region.
