Live a day in the life of an ironworker!
ASTORIA, QUEENS, NY – October 16, 2022 – In partnership with the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Iron Workers Local 40 and 361 will be hosting a hands-on SteelDay event! Anyone who attends this event will have the rare opportunity to step into the boots of an ironworker and experience the life of an ironworker for a day. Ironworkers construct the buildings and bridges of our country. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at welding, flame cutting, mounting a beam or climbing a column! Participants will also learn how to make the most of AISC and IMPACT resources for their next project.
What: SteelDay is the annual celebration of the structural steel industry, sponsored by AISC and organized by its members and partners. SteelDay is an opportunity for steel fabricators to connect with architectural and construction engineering (AEC) professionals. SteelDay offers nationwide events for AEC professionals, faculty, students, and the public to see first-hand how America’s vibrant structural steel industry works to construct buildings and bridges in our country. Attendees learn about the latest industry technologies, the structural steel industry and have the opportunity to network with design and construction industry professionals.
The SteelDay event at the Iron Workers Local 40 and 361 training facility will last approximately two hours. Participants can bring their own personal protective equipment (PPE) if they have it or borrow it from the training center. Participants must wear long pants, long sleeves and closed shoes or boots. This event will follow all CDC and local union safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of attendees.
