EIU loses final game in Chicago Vs. Pacific 3-0

CHICAGO, Ill. – Eastern Illinois (2-4, 0-0 OVC) lost its final game at the Windy City Invitational to Pacific University (3-3, 0-0 WCC) by a final score of 3-0. The Panthers had just 20 kills in the game while the Tigers hit 39 against the EIU defense. The final scores of the set were: 14-25, 17-25, 15-25.

The Tigers defense was able to contain the outside hitters Giovana Larregui Lopez and Ella Collins, limiting them to just six and four kills each. Collins led the team in hitting percentage with a .111 while the team hit for -.020. Pacific hit .253 against the Panther in the game.

Elisavet Papageorgiou finished second on the team with four kills while collecting 10 digs to lead the team. Catalina Rochaix set up 13 out of 20 kills for the team while Summerlyn Smith and Sylvia Hasz collected three and two assists each.

Christina Martinez Mundo finished second on the team in digs with nine. The Pacific offense has never gone below .179 in a set. Emilie Wilcox led the way in net defense with two assists against Lilli Amettis and Annika Black everyone had one.

For the second game in a row, EIU lost the serve battle after giving up eight to the Tigers of Pacific. Eastern managed to put together two serving aces, one from Rochaix and one from Hasz.

Pacific was led by Alexa Edwards on offense with 17 kills and a .275 hit percentage. Jenna Heller led all passers with 30 assists while collecting seven digs. Jaydn Tubbs had 17 digs on defense to lead his team.

EIU will return to Lantz Arena for its next game on Tuesday, September 6 at 6 p.m. against Western Illinois for International Student Day. This marks the Panthers’ home opener for the 2022 season. LiveStats and ESPN+ will be made available.
