NFPA 72 provides the latest safety provisions to meet society’s changing demands for fire detection, signaling and emergency communications. In addition to the focus on fire alarm systems, the NFPA 72 committee also discusses requirements for mass notification systems used for weather emergencies; terrorist events; biological, chemical and nuclear emergencies; and other threats.
Jack Coffelt has decades of experience in all areas of fire safety disciplines
With over 30 years of experience in the fire safety industry, Jack Coffelt brings to his role extensive and practical knowledge in all disciplines of fire safety inspection – fire alarms, sprinklers and extinguishing systems. fire engines, fire pumps, etc. as Managing Director of Asurio, Inc.
Prior to joining Asurio, Inc., Mr. Coffelt was a fire safety contractor for over 20 years, including senior positions in fire safety positions at Siemens; Potter Electric Signals Company; Affiliated computer systems; Security fire systems; Honeywell’s fire alarm division; Simplex-Grinnell; and Kidde-Fenwall. He was also a fire and security technician in the US Navy for 10 years.
Mr. Coffelt is now a member of the technical committee for NFPA 72 (fire alarm standards). He also participates in the fire protection advisory committee of NICET (National Institute for the Certification of Engineering Trades). Mr. Coffelt obtained a NICET level IV certification in fire alarm systems; a NICET level II in testing and inspection of water-based fire protection; and he holds a Texas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS) license. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) and holds a Texas Fire Alarm Planning Superintendent’s License.
